All authors write their books on computers in these days.
Therefore it is very easy to transform that manuscript to an ebook.
One ebook software can be use by billion times. Then almost anybody can host an ebook.

This is what what I had been claiming for the last 10 years.
Books are expensive because of publishers. Numbers are just above. Plus we kill all the forests.
Poor intellectual property rights defenders? Where are you ? Only 10 % goes to professors or authors.
We are willing to pay $ 10 to the professors for an ebook instead of a $ 100 for that publishers’ book.
Publishers will be extinct as well do not worry. Look up Kodak films. Digital photo came. Film industry became extinct. So will publishers. I suggest now sell ebooks at $ 11 ; $ 10 for the writers $ 1 is the profit for distributors.
